Rubik’s Cube Sized Ouya!

Developers have insisted from the beginning that the Ouya is not a set-top box, designer Yves Béhar told Kotaku today it might look like one—at least in terms of size. The Ouya console will be closer in size to an Apple TV than an Xbox 360 or PS3.

“Our console is quite small, around the size of a Rubik's cube,” Béhar said. A standard Rubik’s cube is about 2.2 inches on each side.
The small size makes sense: most of the Ouya’s internal components have been crammed into mobile devices in the past. Béhar hinted that the console might have been even smaller except for concerns about heat: "We intend to give the Tegra chipset room to breathe, as obviously it does get warm. Airflow is important here."
The Ouya’s development process is still underway, remember; we don’t know how similar it will finally be to the image rendered for its kickstarter campaign. But ultra-portablility is definitely a plus. As Béhar explained, it will be “easy to throw in a backpack.”
