Lucasfilm has officially confirmed the rumors
about the final trailer and ticket on-sale info for Star Wars: The
Force Awakens, while debuting the poster for the film, which you can see Top. The poster offers our first official look (outside of some
behind-the-scenes footage) of Carrie Fisher's return as Leia, though
Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker is notably still absent from any marketing
for the film.
As was rumored last week, the trailer will debut during ESPN's Monday Night Football broadcast on October 19th (lest we forget, ESPN, like Lucasfilm, is a Disney-owned company), specifically during halftime. The game itself begins at 5:15pm PT / 8:15pm ET, though when halftime will be is of course not exactly known.
The official Star Wars Twitter account posted the following Tweet, containing 16 seconds of new footage, showing Poe Dameron alighting from his X-Wing and meeting Finn.
Meanwhile, Disney's official Twitter account teased the announcement with footage (some new, some old) of Rey, Poe, Finn, BB-8, and Kylo Ren:
Fans will want to pay close attention though, because Lucasfilm has also revealed that tickets for The Force Awakens will go on sale immediately after the trailer airs.
Also officially confirmed are Star Wars marathons at many theaters
across the country, with all six previous Star Wars films (beginning
with The Phantom Menace) playing in a row, leading up to the first show
of The Force Awakens. Full info on participating theaters, and other
special events and giveaways different theater chains are offering for
The Force Awakens, can be found at StarWars.com.
