Microsoft Provides Free Copy of PCmover Express to Aid File Transfers for a Limited Time!

Microsoft has taken steps to make the file transferring process easier for those moving to Windows 10.
The company is teaming up with Laplink Software, Inc. to offer a free download of Laplink's file transfer software, PCmover Express, to PC owners that are upgrading to a Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 machine that also want to bring their old files with them. The two companies have worked together in the past for a similar cause, but now support has been added for Microsoft's increasingly popular operating system.

In order for PCmover to do its job successfully, the older computer containing the desired files needs to be running Windows XP or later, and both PCs need to have an Internet connection. Additionally, while any selected files and folders will be moved over to the newer PC, including personalized settings and preferences, installed apps will not make the trip - that particular feature only comes with the $59.95 PCmover Professional edition.
The free version of PCmover Express will be available until August 31, 2016 and is for personal, non-commercial use only. Those interested in using the migration software can download it directly from Microsoft.
