Following Sony's announcement of a PS3 to PS4 game upgrade program during its Gamescom press briefing yesterday, which promises to allow gamers to upgrade their cross-generational games from current to next-gen for a "significantly discounted price", Activision is the first publisher to reveal how much that upgrade will cost.

If you buy Call of Duty: Ghosts on PS3 and want to upgrade it to the PS4 version, you'll be able to upgrade it for a "limited time" for a suggested retail cost of £10 or $10, or €10 depending on your region. This programme is not just limited to Sony's next-gen console however, with Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing quoted as saying, "retail programmes, announced by Amazon and GameStop, allow our players to upgrade from the Xbox 360 to the Xbox One version of Call of Duty: Ghosts for £10 as well."

Activision revealed last week that Call of Duty: Ghosts profiles and DLC Season Passes will transfer from current to next-gen free of charge in a bid to make the transition for gamers on both next-gen platforms as smooth as possible.
It's not clear whether Amazon and GameStop are the exclusive retail partners for the upgrade programme
