Microsoft's console revenue increased during the fourth quarter of the 2014 fiscal year, which ended June 30, 2014, according to the company's earnings report today.

At the same time last year, Microsoft reported it had shipped 1 million console units, as opposed to 1.1 million at the end of the 2014 fiscal year. This 10 percent increase takes into account both Xbox 360 and Xbox One sales. Microsoft began selling the Xbox One without Kinect several weeks before the fiscal year ended –– the price cut may have contributed to a last minute boost in sales.

The total revenue generated by Microsoft consoles was $104 million, which is a 14 percent increase since last year's fourth quarter. Although some of this revenue came from other hardware, the bulk of it was from increased console sales, Microsoft said in the report.

Players who have already bought an Xbox One or Xbox 360 can join Bungie's Destiny Beta as of today, and a new Peggle game is on its way, according to an EA earnings call earlier in the day.
