Transporter: The Series Coming to TNT This Fall

Transporter: The Series refuses to die. TNT has acquired the U.S. rights to the shelved Cinemax series and will begin airing its first season this fall.

Based on the hit Transporter film franchise launched by Luc Besson and starring Jason Statham, Transporter: The Series replaces Statham with Chris Vance as Frank Martin, the tough-as-nails, driver-for-hire who never fails to finish the job and kick tremendous amounts of ass in the process. Vance will be familiar to TNT viewers from his recurring role in Rizzoli & Isles as Lieutenant Colonel Charles “Casey” Jones. He’s also seen regular appearances on shows such as Burn Notice, Mental, and Prison Break. French actor François Berléand reprises his role from the films as the dogged but understanding Inspector Sarconi.

Cinemax initially obtained the U.S. broadcast rights in 2011 before production ran into some speedbumps, including a serious injury to Vance during an action sequence and the departure of the original exec producer/showrunner team. Transporter: The Series never aired on Cinemax but it has found unexpected success abroad. As a result, its producers have greenlit a second season, which begins filming in Morocco, the Czech Republic and Canada next month. TNT has the U.S. distribution rights to both seasons.
