Alternative payment system Rixty today announced a new deal with Microsoft and Coinstar that will see Xbox Live currency and Gold memberships made available at Coinstar kiosks. Essentially, this means any change you have lying around can now be used on Xbox Live, provided you have access to a Coinstar machine.

“Rixty is already an established alternative payment platform for online games, and we’re proud to be selected as one of the few approved Xbox Live Gift Card and Gold Membership wholesalers,” said Rixty CEO Ted Sorom. “By expanding our channels to nontraditional resellers such as loyalty and incentive programs, we’re giving these partners access to lucrative new products and consumers more convenient ways to obtain their favorite entertainment content.”

Xbox Live currency can be obtained in amounts ranging from $5 to $100. In addition to the Xbox 360's marketplace, Xbox Live cash can also be used on the Windows Store on Windows Phones and Windows 8 PCs and tablets.

Coinstar offers the ability to turn change into cash, albeit at a fee. Alternatively, it offers gift cards for retailers like Amazon that allow users to obtain the full value of their change without any fee.
In addition to the deal with Coinstar, Rixty also announced a deal to make Xbox Live gift cards and Gold memberships available through Great Lakes Scrip Center.
