Online retailer ShopTo has
gone live with its pricing for Nintendo's Wii U console and its line-up
of software. The prices listed are in all likelihood guesswork, but it
at least gives consumers rough idea at what to expect later this year.
The price of games - from ZombiU to Assassin's Creed III - are in-line with current-gen titles, retailing at £39.99 (approx. $62), while the console itself has be given an RRP of £279.99 (approx. $435).
For comparison, back in 2006 Nintendo released the Wii console at £179 in the UK ($249.99 in the US).
So far Nintendo has confirmed neither a price point nor a release date for its new console, but Wii U is due for release sometime later this year.
Noting a sort of $435 price is only a suggested retail price and probably is not the final decision. Maybe a $280 - $300 for the console & for the game titles only $59.99 & under will work for any gamer without a bottomless pit of cash to spend.
For the rest of us $60 is high but is the price for current generation titles if that price goes over that then more and more gamers will leave to a cheaper PC price for games which are usually subjected to a $50 or $49.99 price point for NEW GAMES!
The console industry is at an important cross road just like the Wii U if they decide on even higher prices of next gen consoles then they will truly fail. And as a closing comment the Wii U is not really next gen its a now current gen system WTF Nintendo why fall so far so fast!?
