Download
codes for the campaign of Halo 3: ODST are currently being sent to to
qualifying owners of Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
343
Industries made the news official in an update on Halo Waypoint. "Our
latest content update is now available," community manager Andy Dudynsky
said. "Additionally, download codes for the Halo 3: ODST Campaign have
begun to roll out to qualified players."
On
top of that, an update to matchmaking is now live, adding yet another remade
Halo 2 multiplayer map to the mix, Remnant, as well as two additional game
modes: Team Doubles and Big Team Battle.
Initially,
it was believed ODST would be rolling out Xbox One owners on May 29, but 343
Industries was quick to clarify the leaked date was merely a placeholder.
Codes
for the remastered port Halo 3: ODST are being sent out specifically to those
who purchased 343i's four-game compilation before December 19 of last year.
However, if you don't find yourself within that qualifying bracket, the studio
has confirmed you'll soon be able to purchase it through the Xbox Store for $5.
UPDATE: The Halo 3: ODST add-on
for Halo: The
Master Chief Collection is now live on the Xbox Store for those who aren't eligible to
snag a free copy of the game.
Halo 3: ODST Experiencing Download Issues on Xbox One
While Halo 3: ODST is now
available for those who own Halo: The Master Chief Collection, it appears some
are having difficulty downloading and installing the game.
Several Xbox One owners on
NeoGAF are reporting that once the download climbs to 99 percent, it locks up,
requiring them to start the download process over again.
However, it appears others
have been able to successfully download and install ODST, noting that Bungie's
hidden Destiny Easter egg has been removed. For comparisons sake, here's a look
at the tease from the original release:
Halo 3: ODST is a free
download for those who purchased Halo: The Master Chief Collection before
December 19 of last year. Those who don't meet those qualifications can still
purchase the campaign add-on through the Xbox Store for $5
